    PENELOPE

    The tale of Penelope.

    Movie Plot:
Generations ago, a witch placed a curse on the Wilhern family that would result in the next girl being born into the clan having a porcine snout — and now young Penelope (Christina Ricci) has fallen victim to the vengeful hag’s unsightly grudge. When tabloid reporter Lemon (Peter Dinklage) runs a misleadingly frightening photograph of the kind-hearted Penelope, her parents, Jessica (Catherine O’Hara) and Franklin (Richard E. Grant), lock the girl away in a sprawling mansion. Though it is said that the curse can be lifted if a man of Penelope’s status takes her hand in marriage, every man who lays eyes on the girl takes flight at first sight, never to return — until the arrival of Max (James McAvoy), that is. An unrepentant gambler with a heavy heart and an ulterior motive for meeting Penelope, Max is unexpectedly caught off guard by the pig-nosed girl’s disarming charm, and suddenly flees before having carried out his nefarious plan. Now determined to throw caution to the wind and explore the world on her own terms, Penelope makes the acquaintance of independent-minded delivery girl Annie (Reese Witherspoon), who quickly agrees to join her newfound friend on the ultimate journey of self-discovery.

    SMART PEOPLE

    Movie Plot:
Professor Lawrence Wetherhold (Dennis Quaid) might be imperiously brilliant, monumentally self-possessed and an intellectual giant – but when it comes to solving the conundrums of love and family, he’s as downright flummoxed as the next guy. His teenaged daughter (Ellen Page) is an acid-tongued overachiever who follows all too closely in dad’s misery-loving footsteps, and his adopted, preposterously ne’er-do-well brother (Thomas Haden Church) has perfected the art of freeloading. A widower who can’t seem to find passion in anything anymore, not even the Victorian Literature in which he’s an expert, it seems Lawrence is sleepwalking through a very stunted middle age. When his brother shows up unexpectedly for an extended stay at just about the same time as he accidentally encounters his former student Janet (Sarah Jessica Parker), the circumstances cause him to stir from his deep, deep freeze, with often comical, sometimes heartbreaking, consequences for himself and everyone around him.

    LIFE BEFORE HER EYES

What if we had the ability to competely shape our future?
What if in a single moment we could choose our destiny?
    Who would you be?
    How would you change?
    And what would you sacrifice?

Some memories in life, we choose to remember.
And some, we can never forget…

    The life before her eyes.

    Movie Plot:
Oscar-nominee Uma Thurman plays a suburban wife and mother who begins to question her seemingly perfect life and perhaps her sanity on the 15th anniversary of a tragic high school shooting that took the life of her best friend. In flashbacks, Diana is a vibrant high schooler (played by Evan Rachel Wood of “Thirteen” and “The Upside of Anger”) who, with her shy best friend Maureen, plot typical teenage strategies, cutting class, fantasizing about boys and vow to leave their sleepy suburb at the first opportunity. The older Diana, however, is haunted by the increasingly strained relationship she had with Maureen as day of the school shooting approached. These memories disrupt the idyllic life she’s now leading with her professor husband Paul and their young daughter Emma. As older Diana’s life begins to unravel and younger Diana gets closer and closer to the fatal day, a deeper mystery slowly unravels.
